Welcome to the new edition of the SolidCAM Newsletter. Summertime gives us a chance to review our recent trade show activities and also to plan for the new ones (see left column below). One of the important shows recently attended by SolidCAM was the EASTEC 2006 Exhibition from May 22 - 24 in West Springfield, MA, USA. Although the overall show attendance decreased about 8 % compared to the previous year, attendance to the SolidCAM booth dramatically increased. Zac Prater from SolidCAM USA said: "Our seamless integration into SolidWorks attracted a lot of visitors, so that this year we generated 60 % more leads than the year before. Also, we made progress to improve our relationship with machine tool vendors like Kitamura and strengthened ties with existing customers such as Deka R&D."

Our autumn trade show session will begin with the IMTS show in Chicago, where we will launch our upcoming version SolidCAM2007 R11. This major release will include a very powerful and market- proven High Speed Machining (HSM) module for molds, tools, dies and complex 3D parts. With demands for ever-shorter lead times and improved quality, High Speed Machining is becoming a must in mold, tool and die companies to machine hard materials with increased feeds. The HSM module offers unique machining and linking strategies for generating high-speed toolpaths. Many of these strategies can improve the productivity of older CNC’s also with drastically reduced air-cutting time and smoothing arcs which help maintain continuous machine tool motion.

Dear reader, enjoy the summertime and also our Newsletter. We are looking forward to meeting you at one of our next trade shows, where we demonstrate the highlights of the new version SolidCAM2007 R11.

  • Benefits of the "SolidWorks+SolidCAM" Integration
  • In a recent article in the MCAD Magazine, the combined solution "SolidWorks+SolidCAM" has been reviewed. The author Al Dean states, that via the Bundle agreement with SolidWorks, SolidCAM "can sell the SolidWorks system as the 3D CAD front end to their machining technology, thus offering a fully Integrated CAD/CAM package using superior mainstream CAD tools."

He continues "...Whether you’re an existing SolidWorks house, or are simply looking to update your CAM technology, there’s something for everyone and current technology can be adopted as a scaleable solution without the many of the implications of capital costs, training and implementation traditionally associated with such moves."

  • Aerospace components from Czech Republic...
  • The Czech parts manufacturer Frencken offers a broad range of production services, from general large volume parts to sophisticated parts, which are used in the aerospace, medical and optical equipment industry. Only for Airbus Industries, more than 700 different parts are manufactured, over 200 of them dedicated to the new Airbus A380.

Frencken`s success is based on the well-qualified and highly motivated staff and on leading-edge technology. Frencken uses various CNC machine centers from MAZAK to support up to 5 axis simultaneous machining and multitasking Turn-Mill machining. All CNC machines are programmed and simulated by SolidCAM.
