The EuroMold exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, has been the last big tradeshow for us in the year 2006. Our booth in hall 8 was a meeting place for end users as well as for existing and potential resellers. We not only presented the new version SolidCAM2007 R11, but also demonstrated together with our partner Fanuc Robomachine applications of 5 axis machining. Of course, the new HSM module was the focus of interest. Both existing and new customers appreciated the toolpaths generated by this module. The HSM toolpaths improve the productivity of both High-Speed and existing CNC machines by reducing air-cutting and adding smoothing arcs that maintain continuous machine tool motion and thus create perfect surface finish.

As our valued customer we recommend highly that you evaluate the power of the new HSM module - the results will be simply amazing! Contact your local reseller to arrange the evaluation of the new HSM module in SolidCAM2007 R11.

Dear reader, on behalf of SolidCAM, I wish you Merry Chrismas and a Happy and Successful New Year 2007.

Emil Somekh

·  INglass grows with SolidCAM+SolidWorks

The Italian INglass group supplies injection compression technology for the production of panoramic polycarbonate sheets as a replacement for glass in the automotive industry ("Plastic glazing"). As the leading company in Italy in this segment, INglass serves car manufacturers like Honda, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Daimler-Chrysler, Volvo and Ford.

In 2001, INglass introduced SolidWorks for the design of the molds and the hot runner systems, followed shortly later by the introduction of SolidCAM for the programming of the CNC machines. The SolidCAM application covers 2.5 and 3D milling of the mold cavities and other complex 3D parts including the machining of ejector holes and cooling channels. The generated G-Code feeds CNC machines from Mazak, CB Ferrarri and Parpas.

·  Benefits of complete CAD/CAM integration

The "Desktop Engineering Magazine" recently published an article about the benefits of a complete CAD/CAM integration. The author, Mark Driscoll, summarized the experience of several companies using CAM software fully integrated in SolidWorks.

One of these companies is SolidCAM´s customer
Alpha Engineering and Design (AED), a job shop that produces vacuum chambers and provides manufacturing services to the aerospace, semiconductor, and thin-film coating industries. Moving to the integrated SolidWorks+ SolidCAM solution reduced production cycles at AED by more than 75 percent.

James Thompson, Vice-President of Operations of AED, stated: "An integrated package allows you to streamline the entire process...We are saving more than six hours in programming, testing, and editing G code for each new component, making the entire process from order to production about four times faster. We are saving hours per day and days per week, which keeps us ahead of competitors both foreign and domestic."

·  SolidCAM attracts visitors at JIMTOF

JIMTOF, the "Japan International Machine Tool Fair" is the biggest Japanese trade show for manufacturing applications. The exhibition, held in Tokyo from Nov 1, to Nov 8, attracted more than 130,000 visitors from Japan and overseas countries. SolidCAM was presented by the Japanese Reseller TACTX, demonstrating the new version SolidCAM2007 R11.

More than 500 customers and prospects visited the SolidCAM/TACTX booth. They were impressed by the excellent surface quality generated by the new HSM module - an important demand especially from the Japanese market.
