SolidCAM®, the leading and fastest-growing CAM system running in SolidWorks® 3D CAD software, will reveal their latest highly-automated electrode design and manufacturing solution at SolidWorks World 2009. This new capability for Moldmakers is totally integrated in SolidWorks and is directly in line with the automation theme at SolidWorks World 2009 International User Conference and Exposition. Held February 8 - 11, in Orlando, FL at the Walt Disney® World Swan & Dolphin, SolidWorks World is the world’s largest annual 3D CAD event.
SolidCAM is the Gold-Certified integrated CAM engine running inside SolidWorks® software and provides seamless, single-window integration and full associativity with SolidWorks. Sidney Eisner, better known as the “SolidCAM Professor”, will be on hand to show and explain the power and time savings of Automated Electrode Machining in booth 610 of the Prtner Pavilion. This will also accompany other major advances featured in the preview of SolidCAM 2009. SolidCAM’s electrode solution automates time-consuming and repetitive tasks in the Electrode Design and Manufacturing process, including geometry extraction, documentation and machining.
Electrode Design Automation - SolidCAM facilitates the design of 3D solid electrodes from flexible surface extensions. The software offers an easy to follow, step-by-step process and addresses all types of electrodes from the common to the most complex. It supports existing libraries of blanks and holders as well as professional documentation for the operator. Even the most experienced electrode designer will benefit from the knowledge-driven automation provided by SolidCAM.
Electrode Manufacturing Automation - Once the electrode design is finished, SolidCAM starts the machining of the electrode in the SolidWorks window. SolidCAM supports a wide range of 2.5D milling, 3D milling and HSM strategies to manufacture every type of electrode. SolidCAM supports the generation of rough and finish electrodes and leverages the use of templates of machining strategies to generate optimal and efficient toolpaths.
SolidCAM’s Electrode solution provides the right combination of automation and user-control to finish the electrodes with high quality and in time. Emil Somekh, Founder and Managing Director of SolidCAM, explained, “The battle for competitive and efficient production must be fought on many fronts and is the deciding factor in survival for modern manufacturing companies. Automation is the key weapon of attack and must be leveraged in as many areas of design and manufacturing as possible. Those companies that survive and thrive in today’s manufacturing jungle must win the battles for efficiency in every aspect of their business operations. They must simply find the best tools to ensure they stay ahead of their competitors. The Automated Electrode functionality is yet another tool SolidCAM offers our customers to remain ahead of the pack“.
Wolfgang Mueller, SolidCAM’s Vice President Sales Europe, states, “SolidCAM’s Electrode solution is the result of an intensive joint development between Manusoft Technologies Pte Ltd., the developer of IMOLD, mold design and assembly system software integrated in SolidWorks, and SolidCAM, the world leader in integrated CAM solutions. Both companies are SolidWorks Gold partners (the highest level of SolidWorks integration) and teamed up to develop a comprehensive solution for the production of electrodes - one of the most delicate and complex tasks within Moldmaking. By automating the whole electrode process from the design to the manufacturing, we enable moldmakers to reduce costs and lead-times. We are very pleased to release this innovative solution at the SolidWorks World 2009 conference and exhibition.”
Founded in 1984 by its Managing Director Dr. Emil Somekh, SolidCAM provides manufacturing customers a full suite of CAM software modules for 2.5D and 3D milling, high speed machining, multi-sided indexial 4/5 axes milling, simultaneous 5 axes milling, turning, turn-mills up to 5-axes and WireEDM. SolidCAM is the Gold-Certified integrated CAM engine running directly inside SolidWorks® software and provides seamless, single-window integration and full associativity with SolidWorks software including parts, assemblies and configurations. Today, SolidCAM has more than 13,500 seats installed in industry and education. SolidCAM is sold by a worldwide reseller network in 46 countries. SolidCAM has been on a very rapid growth path since it implemented the SolidWorks integration strategy. In the CIMdata NC Software Market Assessment Report V17, CIMdata named SolidCAM as the consistent growth leader in CAM worldwide over the last 5 years, with annual growth rates in the 30% range.
