AMB 2012, International Exhibition for Metal Working, closed its doors in Stuttgart on 22 September after five days successful days. With around 90,000 trade visitors from 65 countries more than 1,300 exhibitors from 29 countries, the AMB now ranks among the world's top 5 events, as the "best AMB ever".

For SolidCAM, this was not only the best AMB ever but also, as Emil Somekh, Managing Director of SolidCAM GmbH stated, probably the best show we ever had.

Every 30 minutes, our team demonstrated SolidCAM Mill-Turn and iMachining LIVE and then cut the part on a powerful Okuma MAC Turn 350 where 20 kg of steel were removed in only 12 minutes from a 150 mm diameter blank. Great thanks go to Hommel Group for providing and operating the Okuma Mill-Turn Machine and for SRS Steel (www.srs-stahl.de) who sponsored the material for the show.

The cutting was streamed from two cameras in the machine LIVE to a large LCD over the booth – attracting droves of amazed visitors trying to believe their eyes. On the SolidCAM booth our resellers DPS Software GmbH, unicam and four SolidCAM technicians had to demo SolidCAM to the crowd eager to learn more about the revolution in CNC manufacturing.

The powerful iMachining was really difficult to miss as it was featured all around AMB on more than ten partner sites. Live Cutting of parts efficiently programmed with SolidCAM’s revolutionary cutting technology took place at the stands of Doosan Machine tools, Hoffmann Group, Fanuc, Hommel, Bumotec, Haas and at VDW. Our partners Iscar and Guehring were showing videos featuring their cutting tools powered by SolidCAM iMachining.

We have handed out an unbelievable number of close to 2,000 iMachining DVDs during the show and are looking forward to working on all these great contacts who will look into iMachining very closely as it really will drastically cut on their manufacturing and tooling costs.
