IST Sistemas exhibited their vast portfolio of products which comprise the best and complete CAD/CAM solutions available. This year, visitors who came to their booth, could observe one of the most extraordinary highlights of the show – the Stock Car by <link http: www.jlind.com.br external-link-new-window external link in new>JL Racing.

JL Racing is one of IST’s success stories and it so happens that they are the company that develop the Stock Car cars.

JL Racing have made two considerable modifications in the car. The first was in the gear shifting system, and the second is in a suspension component called shaft sleeve.

The shaft sleeve is basically what holds the wheel in its place and all the brake and suspension systems. They needed a quick and efficient manufacturing solution to help them implement these changes with the highest quality possible.

To make this happen, JL Racing consulted with IST and they advised them to start working with SolidCAM software. SolidCAM is <link internal-link internal link in current>seamlessly integrated in SolidWorks and it includes the revolutionary iMachining technology, which saves 70% and more in machining time and extends tool life dramatically.

iMachining with its unique patented <link internal-link internal link in current>Technology Wizard, provides optimal feeds and speeds, taking into account the toolpath, stock and tool material and machine specifications.

JL Racing decided to go for it and they installed SolidCAM for CNC programming of their machines. They started by manufacturing the shaft sleeve component, one of the most important components in the vehicle’s suspension system which transmits all the external forces to the rest of the components in the car.

With SolidCAM and iMachining, JL Racing was able to reduce the manufacturing time of the shaft sleeve component by approximately 50% - making it a great success story for all parties involved.
