2.5D Milling

CNC tool paths are stored as Operations in the CAM Manager that is similar to the look, feel and location of the SOLIDWORKS feature tree. Suppress, cut, copy, paste, simulate, create G-Code and reorder at any time directly from the CAM Manager.

Easily machine faces by contouring, hatching, spiraling and using one line cuts. Extension, overlaps, and lead in/out are automatically applied to machine the entire face, with the tool approach from the outside.

Cutting Profiles could not be faster or easier as SolidCAM includes multiple roughing and finishing strategies designed to simplify the programming process. Save time with integrated Profile geometry modifications (offsetting, trimming, extension) that enable changing the geometry without editing the CAD model.

SolidCAM provides you with the power to machine an unlimited number of closed and open pockets with islands. Pocket Milling includes Contour, Hatch and Plunging, while variable ramping options are also included to provide safe penetration of the material.

Breaking edges in Pocket and Profile operations is much faster and easier with SolidCAM Chamfering. Save time by using the same selected geometry as Profile and Pocket to Chamfer the model edge, without actual model changes.

SolidCAM provides the complete Drilling solution with pecking, reaming, boring, and tapping available as standard cycles, while Custom cycles are also available.

Save hours of multiple screen picks to select geometry by automatically recognizing and grouping holes from the solid model, with the option to set specific picking criteria and manually add or remove features. A single Drill Recognition operation can automate your process for machining groups of holes on various levels and depths, refining and reducing the number of operations.

Save time and the frustration of screen picking pockets by automatically recognizing pockets in the CAD model. All strategies and options of the standard Pocket operation are available, combined with various levels and depths recognized from the model faces.

Take the complexity out of Thread Milling by easily machining standard internal and external threads with various cutting depths (up to 3 steps over), lead in/out strategies and an adjustable start angle.

A level beyond 2.5D, drives your tool along a 3D curve, cutting the model at different depths and even automatically Chamfers the model edges if desired.

Simplify the sometimes tricky machining of side slots with undercuts, using a T-slot tool. Just click on the top and bottom faces of the side slot, and SolidCAM automatically calculates the depths and step downs.

Get your message read by engraving single line or True Type (double stroke) fonts on flat and wrapped faces, using fill area strategies (Hatch/Contour) and mid-line engraving.
