SolidCAM UK will be carrying out live cutting demonstrations, showing the supremacy of their unique, revolutionary and patented iMachining technology, as well as their powerful 5 Axis Simultaneous Milling solution including Barrel cutting and Lens cutting, in addition to Mirror machining, on a Romi DCM 620 5x at stand 345, Hall 17 at MACH2020.

The UK and Ireland reseller of the SolidCAM and InventorCAM suite of CAD/CAM software for manufacturing from SolidCAM, states that iMachining has proven cycle time savings of 70% and more compared to traditional machining solutions. The company also states that their software allows companies to get the most out of their high-end multi-tasking CNC machines, and will therefore be carrying out presentations throughout the event showcasing their scalable software, which supports all Milling and Turning functionality, highlighting its powerful support for Advanced Mill-Turn machines including multi-turret, multi-spindle and Swiss-Type plus multi-channel synchronisation. There is no limit to the number of axes it can control and synchronise with Mill/Turn applications. This provides companies with a cost-effective way to produce small, complex and precision parts in large quantities.

Gordon Drysdale, Managing Director of SolidCAM UK says, “Some of the Swiss-type (Sliding Head) lathes can have 14 or more axes. SolidCAM can write all the programs for the different channels, synchronise them, simulate the result and perform clash detection to produce a safe and efficient toolpath.”

The Swiss Type Solution eliminates the problems that this type of machining gives such as eliminating the need for manual G-Code programming with no visual verification, and removing the issue of the operator holding sole control and knowledge. As with all of SolidCAM modules, the technology is easy to use and provides fast program creation.

SolidCAM seamlessly integrates inside SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, with full tool path associativity. This single window integration allows all operations to be defined and verified without leaving the parametric CAD assembly environment.

All milling and turning operations are available for the programming of mill-turn machines, including the software’s flagship iMachining. It is particularly effective on hard and difficult to machine materials such as Inconel and Titanium. Using its Technology Wizard, provides speeds and feeds based on tool path, stock material, type of cutting tool and CNC machine specifications. Continually making adjustments to the intelligent morphing spirals ensures that a constant chip thickness is maintained and the tool is kept in contact with the material at all times. SolidCAM UK states that iMachining has increased average tool life by 5 times or more.

Gordon Drysdale says, “We make bold claims regarding iMachining; on our stand we will prove the times savings gained on hard materials, which can even be as high as 90%!”

SolidCAM continues to push the CAM boundaries and its engineers are looking forward to talking to existing SolidCAM customers and meeting the next generation of users, helping them to improve their manufacturing processes, to ensure they can get the maximum return on investment and gain high productivity.

SolidCAM UK will be using work-holding from Schunk Intec Ltd (Hall 20, stands 360 and 362), cutting tools from Iscar Tools, verification from CG Tech (Hall 17, Stand 330), back-ends from Haimer UK Ltd (Hall 20, Stand 551), Datum setting, In-process inspection, tool setting and tool breakage detection from Blum-Novotest Ltd (Hall 20, Stand 650), and a CNC machine from Romi Machines UK Ltd (Hall 6, Stand 160.)
