SolidCAM UK held another successful ‘Learn & Lunch Workshop’ in November of 2019 at their Technology Centre based in Dodworth, Barnsley. For this event, SolidCAM UK partnered with Romi Machines UK, SCHUNK Intec, Quickgrind, MSC Industrial, Blum-Novotest, and CG Tech.

The ‘Learn & Lunch Workshop’ events were introduced in line with consumer demand and feedback, which highlighted a need for a more ‘practical’, ‘hands-on’, ‘shop-floor’ experience for enquiring engineers. The Workshops have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, allowing partners and engineers to network, discuss and witness the latest technological advancements available in the manufacturing sector first-hand. Breakfast and lunch are provided so that attendees can drop in and out as they please.

Leading, distinguished partners were invited to attend and exhibit their products and services in order to provide customers with a total solution for their manufacturing needs, all under one roof. Romi Machines UK showcased their CNC machining capabilities, Quickgrind and MSC Industrial advised upon cutting tools options, SCHUNK Intec guided attendees with work-holding possibilities, CG Tech demonstrated CNC simulation ideas, and Blum-Novotest presented in-process inspection concepts.

Live cutting demonstrations were run throughout the event using a Romi D-800 VMC and a Romi GL 240M, so that attendees could see the powerful full-suite of SolidCAM CAD/CAM including the patented, revolutionary and unique iMachining technology.

During the live cutting demonstrations, attendees witnessed the immense CNC machining time savings of more than 70% using SolidCAM’s iMachining technology. The exclusive technology is well-known for extending tool life dramatically, and its patented Technology Wizard provides automatic speeds and feeds based on machining parameters. With iMachining, users can expect unprecedented savings and increased efficiency for CNC milling operations that translate into profits and success.

Attendees are offered the opportunity to bring along their own material, so that SolidCAM UK, along with their partners, can offer the best solution to complete a project in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible. These customers often want to test new technology, but do not have the spare capacity in-house to do so, due to production constraints. Attendees are always grateful for the extra time given during and after events to ensure that they leave with the best solution.
